The Horse Who Could Do Anything is about a horse named Consoler who has a hard time finding his own success and doubts himself when he does not succeed at what he is born to do. When he finally meets a young girl who thinks the world of him his life changes for the better because she told him that she believes he is the capable of doing anything. Children will find the theme relatable; that being good at something is not always easy and sometimes you just need to have someone tell you that you are special and that they believe in you. There is also a secondary theme that portrays gratitude and love over time and distance, and that true friendship last forever.

The Horse Who Could Do Anything is a progressive reading series, that uses a familiar subject and story line to encourage repetitive reading on three separate levels young, intermediate and chapter book. The author's love of horses drew her to stories like Black Beauty and the Black Stallion at a young age. Looking back, she felt like they were above her reading abilities to comprehend for her at age 5 and a slightly easier level would have made reading them unassisted a great confidence booster. With her own children at various reading level the author has designed the series to keep the same subject matter, as it has the ability to appeal to readers of different levels and allows for younger children to enjoy a favorite story that evolves into a stronger plot line and strengthens their reading skills.

This book was written by my niece, so I am a bit biased in my opinion. I am very proud of her for following her vision/dream. The book is a true story of a girl and her horse. It is written for younger readers (3rd grade and up if reading on their own; 5 years and up if reading the book aloud), but older readers will enjoy the book as well. My students liked the artwork, and many of them are very good artists. Being a teacher I thought I noticed a couple grammatical errors the first time I read the book online. The second time through I was reading the print version and I didn't notice these errors. The illustrations in the print format did not download with the e-book. :( The price was just right for both the Kindle and the print versions.

The story emphasizes that even if you are not the best at one thing, keep trying and eventually you will find what you are best at and you will excel. I purchased both the Kindle and the print version of the book. I gave the print version to my dad, the author's grandfather (87 years old). Then I went home and ordered two more copies of the print version so I could keep one for myself and put one in my classroom's library. I teach middle school and high school students in a juvenile detention center. Some of them have not been in school for long periods of time and are lower level readers. I think they will enjoy this book because of its simplicity, its illustrations, and the encouraging message. The Horse Who Could Do Anything: For Young Readers (Progessive Reading Series) (Volume 1) I look forward to her next book!

I had a blast reading Laura's book to my three year old daughter and it kept her very entertained as well!! We talked about it while reading it and she stayed very engaged. I highly recommend this children's book! The illustrations are great and the message is very important for everyone from age three all the way to an old man like me!!
I'm always looking for great kids books for my niece and this one was perfect! The illustrations are really neat, the writing is really simple and easy for little kids to understand and it has a great message about believing in yourself! Loved it!
I am Laura's Dad. This book is ideal for every young girl who dreams, thinks, reads, draws, eats, and sleeps HORSES! After retiring from the Navy, I did substitute teaching in grades K through 3. After 12 years, I can read my class's interests very well. Believe me, young readers will latch on to this book like a magnet on to a refrigerator. Soler was a remarkable horse, no doubt about it. He was also a lovable family member and my very close friend. Laura has written the book from Soler's perspective and I think this draws the reader in to a closer relationship with both the horse and the story. Imagine that Soler, this powerful and beautiful animal, is telling you about his ups and downs. Not giving up in despair when success doesn't come easily, he takes on each new situation calmly and with the confidence that his Mother and Laura instilled in him. In words unspoken he lets you, the reader, know that the formula for success lies in doing your best, being of service to others, and having faith in yourself and in those who love you. What a great message for our youngsters . Soler was never famous, but he was well known and those who knew him loved him. I regret only that this book wasn't around when Laura was five years old. Then I could have read it to her over and over and over ad infinitum.
